Portable Fire Extinguisher Annual Inspection
This inspection is a visual inspection of all components of a fire extinguisher unit. We look for previous service dates, gauge pressure, condition of body/damage, obstructions, and weight. We verify if the unit requires service.
Important notes to keep in mind for this inspection
- Access to any space containing a fire extinguisher makes this inspection more intrusive, depending on the location of your extinguishers.
- The most common fire extinguishers need to have maintenance performed every six years. This alternates between a 6-year and a hydro inspection.
- Specialized extinguishers (i.e., Kitchen, Halon, Halotron) need service every 5 years, and a hydro test is always performed.
- When determining if a unit requires service, we will write on the previous year's tag on the device what service is needed. We do not replace tags if the unit is due for service.
