Backflow Inspections
We Provide Certified Backflow Preventer Inspections, Testing, and Compliance for Southern Colorado Fire Protection Systems

Our highly skilled inspectors meticulously examine and test every component of the backflow preventer system: assemblies, check valves, relief valves, shut‑off valves, test cocks, and pressure gauges. We look for damage, corrosion, leaks, or improper installation and verify proper check‑valve operation, pressure differentials, and relief‑valve functionality.
Backflow Compliance
Compliance with regulatory standards is of utmost importance in backflow inspections. The NFPA, local plumbing codes, and industry-specific guidelines provide a framework for maintaining the safety and effectiveness of backflow preventer systems. We also adhere to ABPA, ASSE, and other various standards for testing. Our inspectors are extensively trained to understand and comply with these standards, ensuring that your inspections are conducted in accordance with the highest industry practices.
Regular backflow preventer inspections and adherence to regulatory standards are crucial for the safety of your water supply and to prevent potential health hazards. By scheduling regular inspections, you reduce the risk of contamination and demonstrate your commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant water system. Annual Backflow Testing – What You Should Know
In Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and most Southern Colorado municipalities, annual fire‑line backflow testing is mandatory.
Important notes to keep in mind for this inspection
- During this test, water will be interrupted briefly as the testing method requires. This is very short and, most times, not noticed by tenants.
- For your information, you can call your water purveyor and request a list of backflow preventers they are tracking at your property to get a better idea of what is onsite.
- A protective cage commonly locks irrigation backflow preventers to prevent damage and theft. Please verify with your staff or irrigation company that we have access to these devices prior to the visit to avoid multiple trips.
- In the event that a domestic backflow preventer fails, the device will need to be repaired within 14 days per the water purveyor.
What to Expect During a Fire Backflow Inspection
Our inspection process includes:
✅ Visual Inspection – We check the entire assembly for visible damage, corrosion, or tampering.
✅ Functional Testing – We test check valves, shut-off valves, test cocks, and relief valves.
✅ Pressure Testing – Our gauges measure differential pressure to verify internal valve performance.
✅ Leak Assessment – Any signs of leakage, pressure loss, or seal failure are noted.
✅ Code Compliance – We validate compliance with Denver Water, state plumbing codes, NFPA standards, and ABPA/ASSE testing guidelines.
